Final Project

My final project was based on the feelings we might have at the beginning, fear, confusion or the feeling of not knowing if we are going to be able to make friends.  Also, it was based on the feelings we have now, more confidence in speaking and expressing ourselves in English, maybe a little bit of nostalgia at the end of this month full of new feelings and people. People that I may not see again but that will always remain in my heart and memory.  Teacher, thank you for giving me time to get used to speak loudly for the people in class and to grow my self-confidence. I don't want to be sentimental, I just have to say thank you because I learned something new from everyone. <3

My Home

Home In Ecuador, in the center of the province of Zamora Chinchipe, there is a small "cantón" called Zumbi, where my grandparents' farm is located between large green mountains. You had to walk 5 minutes from my uncle's house to get to the farm and in all those minutes you could see the two story, wood colored house. Located on a large plot of land full of plantations and animals, one minute before you arrive you can see Campion, Negra and Kiara, my grandparents' dogs. One of the dogs, Kiara, had four  puppies in total, four were given to good families and when I was 16 I kept the last puppy. My little Max was excited to see his mother.  When we arrived at our grandparents’ home we left our shoes in the laundry and washed our hands. I went upstairs and saw my grandmother cooking "caldo de pollo" and some rice to eat for lunch. My heart fills with happiness quickly. Waiting until we were all at home to eat

The Glass Castle

Knowing the Past to Understand  the Present Jeannette Walls Glass Castle As The Glass Castle unfolds, Jeannette Walls opens her heart to her readers, telling the story and details of her life. The focus of her memoir, in her early years, was the lack of care her parents showed her. The care that her parents overlooked, marked her life and influenced the personality she has today. Her parents' actions affected Jeannette as a child, even though she believed that her childhood was normal. The little care they took of her made her the strong adult she became. Lack of care-   According to Jeanette's reports of her neglectful childhood experiences, she had no stable place or home to live. In the second portion of her memoir, “The Desert”,  we learn that while her mother was in the next room singing, Jeanette, as a three year old, was cooking for herself. While cooking, she caught on fire, “Then the flames leaped up, reaching my face. I screamed. I smelled the burning and heard a h
